A tobacco jar, most likely produced in the Beauvais area in France, 19th century.
The decoration on this example says exactly what this jar was meant for: the storage of snuff tobacco.
The tobacco jar is made from stoneware (high-fired clay). It is marked on the base with the digit 3 and the capital letter T.
I found this tobacco jar on an antiques fair in Gien, a small city on the banks of the river Loire (France). It even contained some original tobacco!
