A previous version of this stein was issued in 1904 and 1906. From 1921 to 1935 the Saar Basin was under control of The League of Nations and administered by France. Also the great fire of 1921 in the Mettlach factory destroyed almost everything. This is the only known etched stein released during the Leaglue of Nations period. Quilmes asked for a redesign of 2900 and placed a large order. This is maked Saar Basin on the base as it was not considered a part of Germany at the time. Recessed base.
