A 1/4 liter capacity art nouveau stein, produced by Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach, Germany.
The decoration on this stein is typical of the art nouveau period, with it's organic flowing lines. In this case the decoration is based on barley, one of the ingredients for making beer.
The stein has a capacity of 1/4th of a liter. A larger version of this stein exists (mold 2801), which has a capacity of 2.1 liters. That is the so-called master stein to this drinking stein.
This specific stein is marked 2802, together with the date number 07 for 1907, and a third number 29 which probably is a production batch number.
The stein measures 14.5 centimeters without the lid. It has a hollow (recessed) base.
