This blue and gray stein was produced around 1890-1900 and features a scene from the Antiques: Poseidon.
The lid had a very nice ceramic inset of a puti sitting atop a big fish that he obviously caught.
The stein is made in the soc-called historismus style, typical of the end of the 19th century in Germany.
There are few markings: a 1/2L capacity mark on the rim near the handle, and on the base there are the numbers 983 and 13.
This stein was produced by Marzi & Remy, based on the base numbers, and the shape of the handle.
The size of this stein is about 26.5cm (about 10.5 inches) including it's ceramic lid, 16.7cm (6.7 inches) without it.
A very handsome piece, although sadly the fish on the ceramic lid insert has lost it's tail.
