4 cavaliers are painted on this large plaque. Technique is print-over-glaze, where the lines have been printed, and the rest is hand colored.
The plaque's diameter is about 1ft 1.1in (34.5cm).
The markings on the backside are "gesetzlich geschutzt" (registered trademark), 28 (most likely the decor number), and an unknown maker's mark. The mold number 1044 is impressed, as well as the number 38 and a Roman number II.
The mold number 1044 in combination with the decorating technique, the size, and the overall touch and feel makes me comfortable in attributing this plaque to Villeroy & Boch. Decor number 28 is not mentioned in the Mettlach Book 4th Edition, though.
