A souvenir stein depicting the city of Heidelberg. This type of stein was produced solely for the tourism industry, not for actual use.

This is a mini stein with a capacity of just 1/8th liter.

On one side is a cartouche with a man and the name 'Perkeo'. On the other side is a cartouche with a large beer drum and the title 'Das grosse Fass' (the large drum).

The front panel is a scene of Heidelberg castle, together with the shield of Heidelberg.

I have a stein like this but it is lidded and larger. I also have 5 others similar. #'s 4047, 3977, 3919, 3962, and 3971. It is 5", 7" when including the lid. I was just wondering if anyone had any information about them. They have a different single letter on the bottom, is that the designer? Also maybe makers mark? II OR III

Dawn,
Steins of this type are usually cheap and massproduced souvenirs from Germany. Most of them date from about the 1930's to the current day.
Any markings on the base usually refer to a producing company, a mold number or a production batch or a quality control indication. Almost never to a specific designer. In the case of this type of souvenir steins a designer will hardly ever be found, basically because the design of the decoration usually is so simple in the first place..
