DAB | Dortmunder Actien Brauerei | Raben-Bräu Steinkrug

Villeroy & Boch - mold 1909

From the collection of Jorge O. Soriano

“DAB” | Dortmunder Actien Brauerei | Raben-Bräu

Notice “DAB” on eagle’s chest. This is an awesome design!!!

Right side view

Not a pewter lid, tin maybe? Nice patina though.

Excellent condition!! All previous custodians kept this stein in a very safe place through two world wars. I will now continue to do the same.

No marks underneath lid.

This picture doesn’t show it, but the ink capacity mark is blue. 4/10 L

Still not a great picture, but the ink mark is indeed blue, which I think looks cool!!

Did I mention the condition of this stein is pristine? Well, it is!!!

That golden hue on lid is the patina. Looks awesome!!

The 1909 is a Mettlach form number. I believe the 03 are last two numbers of year 1903. The 30 is quality mark. The III is a size mark.

Recessed base

I believe this stein was made in 1903 and the “30”is the quality control mark. But I’m not 100% certain???

DAB | Dortmunder Actien Brauerei | Raben-Bräu

This is my most prized German brewery steinkrug. Its twin brother is on display at the Dortmunder Brauerei Museum. See link below by Florian Buechtingby. Besides the fact that it’s a museum quality stein, and very rare, I just love the design.

Original owner’s description:
“Sehr seltener Bierkrug in Museumsqualität – er befindet sich buchstäblich in einem Brauereimuseum.
(DAB) DORTMUNDER ACTIEN BRAUEREI, 4/10L, Raben-Bräu erstes Logo 1911, Mettlach.”

Google Translated:

"Very rare museum-quality beer stein—it's literally in a brewery museum.
(DAB) DORTMUNDER ACTIEN BRAUEREI, 4/10L, Raben-Bräu first logo 1911, Mettlach."

I would like to positively confirm date of stein. I believe it’s 1903, (see Raben-Brau document), but not 100% certain. Your feedback is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!

I would like to positively confirm date of stein. I believe it’s 1930, but not 100% certain. Your feedback is welcomed and appreciated. I provided several images and as much information as I could find. Thanks!

Correction. I believe the stein’s date is 1903, not 1930. See next to last image. But still need confirmation.
