What type of hinge is this called? What period is it from? I provided a link but I still wasn’t able to ID.

The hinge is an open 5 ring style, which came into common use around 1895. Looks like the center ring may have broken sometime over the course of the stein's life. The lid design and stein decoration appears similar to steins I've seen from the 1920's/30's. Rough translation (Google Translate): "Water is for the fish and beer is for the people. Anyone who doesn't believe this isn't quite right."
