Thomas-Bräu Munchen Steinkrug

Marzi & Remy

From the collection of Jorge O. Soriano

Thomas-Bräu Munchen

0,4L

Thomas-Bräu Munchen

“Dear colleague, I am ready to share my observation with you. There are two volume size labels on the mug. 0.4 liters and 7/24 liters. This combination allows us to talk about the age of the object. 7/24 is equal to 0.34 liters. This is slightly less than 0.4 liters. The 7/24 label indicates that the seller charged the same fee from the beer buyer as for 0.4 liters. This was observed in Germany in the period 1908-1914.”

“The income level of workers in Germany at that time lagged behind rising prices. In order not to provoke indignation among the workers, decisions were made to sell them beer at the same price, but with a lower volume. conclusion: your mug was made before 1908.
The decorator Ludwig Tannemann has been painting the objects since 1885. Under the painting, he took blanks from various manufactories. In your case, it's Thomas from Marzi & Remy.”

The above information was graciously provided by Paulo Vik Falcon, a mysteincollection.com friend.

Hello Paulo,

Wow! This is incredible information you have shared with me. I doubt I would have ever found this information on my own, so I very much appreciate it - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! This is historical knowledge. This is the kind of information that intrigues me to collect old German Brewery steinkrugs. I welcome and appreciate any additional information you may have about any other steinkrugs in my collection. I have many more to add, actually, I have only just begun. Prost! ????
