Very Old German Faience Steinkrug.
Artfully crafted and decorated German faience. The beautiful purple flowers still so bright after 225 years or more. Amazing!!
Note: My amateur pictures do not do justice to the colors.
This stein is in very nice condition. Most likely dating from late 1700's to early 1800's.
It has two hairline fractures (see pics). They start at the top rim and descend approximately two inches and stop. I think these are from expansion/contraction, not from trauma. From the outside they are hard to see without very close examination.
There is a pin hole in the pewter lid (see pics).
7-1/2" tall to top of lid.
Working to learn more about this beautiful piece that incredibly has survived 2 world wars over 225 years.
