Light gray stoneware with cobalt blue coloring. Incised floral designs with stamped round elements.
Cylindrical body common c.1700-1820 and holds approximately .75 Liter. The lower portion of the handle is pulled into a tail, which was common c.1700-1780.
The hollow ball thumb lift and large closed 5 ring hinge is appropriate for the c.1700's-early 1800's time period.
Referencing "The Beer Stein Book" by Gary Kirsner, the design of the thumb lift is similar to what is depicted as being common c.1775 and the lid design is almost identical to lids on pictured steins estimated to be from the late 1700's.
The lid is personalized "F.S." and appears to have tavern number of 55.
