Here is a handblown, green glass stein with a pewter lid and overlay, circa 1890. It has a closed, 5-pin hinge which was common between 1875-1895. The pewter work was done by the well known firm Gebrüder (brothers) Thannhauser of Munich.
The Latin inscription on the center of the lid-Nos Nullas Potest-translates to „We Have No Power“. The writing around the rim translates to: „The Inactive Bowling Club Club Photographer A. Wilder October 1, 1895“. The initials “AW” engraved on the thumblift presumably are those of the Club Photographer, A. Wilder.
There is a visible tight hairline crack on the rear of the stein by the handle.
