Erlanger Hofbräu Brauerei.
This is a 0,3 L. brewery stein made in Germany by Reinhold Merkelbach in 1890.
It is 6" to the top of the original pewter thumb-lift which is firmly attached to the handle through a 5 ring hinge.
The incised decoration is for the “Erlanger Hofbrau”.
This was a “special order” for this brewery by RM in 1890 and then discontinued.
The mold # 828 was later used for other wares.
The same model number (828) was later used to identify a decorated flask.
RM mark on stein’s base is identical to engraved RM mark on the inside of lid.
NOTE: Pewterer's touch mark on Reinhold Merkelbach #1450, dated 1902 is IDENTICAL to the pewter touch mark of my stein. There is another image on same page of a punched mark in pewter lid of featured the herring stein. (RZ.RM.GR) or Rein Zinn. Reinhold Merkelbach. Grenzhausen. This mark is again IDENTICAL to my stein.
I will provide link below for your viewing and feedback, if any? Do the (2) marks in link identical to mine provide further information?
