The Kulmbacher Brewery Aktien-Gesellschaft, based in Kulmbach, is a German brewery company that was founded in 1846 as “Reichelbräu”. Reichelbräu (1846) focused on “export” and gradually took over many other breweries to become the powerhouse it is today.
If you notice, the original lid on this steinkrug is “Culmbacher Reichelbräu Export Bier”.
A friend of mine found two (2) identical steins on Germany’s ebay and BOTH, (which I will not post, but have screenshots), said the following:
"um 1910 Reichelbräu Kulmbach". AROUND 1910.
This isn’t confirmation of exact date, but, given other information (see links), it is a good estimate.
As always, if anyone can date this more precisely, please share with me. Danke!
This Kulmbacher Brewery has a great many beers I enjoyed dinking while living in Germany. One in particular that use to be delivered to my front door by the case was “Mönchshof Original”. This was my, truth comes out, “DAILY” go-to bier. Them were the days!
I don’t see any marks on base or inside of lid.
1/2 L. capacity and calibration marks present.
It is in very good clean and undamaged condition. The strap is tight and the tang is firmly affixed to the lid.
***** If anyone has added information, producer, designer, etc., love to hear from you.*****
