Another look

Model # “H4”

Original Pschorr Bräu München Brauerei Steinkrug.

This is a beautiful and authentic piece of German beer and brewery history. The person I acquired from stated it belonged to his late father who was a steinkrug collector himself. He believed it had always been in his family and never owned by a collector, until now. It was time to let it go to someone who would really appreciate it and continue to display and preserve the history it holds, as well as the beer.

I’m really lucky to be the next caretaker of this awesome piece of German brewery and stein history!

I am only recently beginning to take the interest, and therefore the time, to learn all about steinkrug identification. Therefore, I am too green to make out markings that aren’t clearly visible and complete, such as this one.

Perhaps the more experienced collectors out there can help me with this one and others until I gain more knowledge and experience with the identification process. Also, if you can please share with me what it is that you saw that enabled you to identify it, will help further grow my knowledge base. Thank you!

Please see pictures. Thanks.

UPDATE: Thanks to a community member for helping to identify it as likely a Merklebach & Wick and model # “H4”.

Hi Jorge,

Looks to me like Merkelbach & Wick, although it is a very faint mark. The model number is H4.

On a separate note, I realized today that I have no access to the many ebay purchases and their respective listings, which I had been saving in a e-folder thinking that one day I’d use the information provided to do what I’m doing now, identifying and cataloging them. eBay only keeps listings and the associated messages for 90 days, or rather only viewable for 90 days. The worse part is many of the sellers sent me messages on ebay with much more detailed and interesting information. Break

Well, it so happens that I found an amazing place to research, catalog, and learn from a community of like-minded stein enthusiasts - MySteinCollection. I am having fun with it and look forward to improving my beer stein knowledge, enjoying others’ steins, identifying and dating my collection, and adding value to the catalog.

Proost!
