Simon Peter Gerz made steins 1862-1999. This "Four Seasons" stein is about 6-1/4" tall and has a 0.5L capacity mark and no mold number, makers mark or Germany. This stein has a Gerz capacity mark and handle, it's not in the Beer Stein Library, but there are three other Gerz Four Seasons steins. Or the old catalog section in Stein Collectors International. This three ring heavy pewter hinge is thought to be used around 1875-1895. In 1887 it was required to have Germany on all exports. Possibly it was sold in Germany and somehow found it's way to the USA. Or it was made for export 1862-1886.
