J.W.Remy made steins 1864-1966 this "Early Germans" stein is about 14" tall and has only Germany on the base. No 1L capacity or makers mark or mold number #1322. 1887 it was required to have Germany or Made in Germany on all exports. This stein may have been made around 1887-1939 when WW2 started.
Hermann the German or Arminius as he was known to the Romans with his wife Thusnelda. He lead the battle of the Teutoburg Forest (9 A.D.) a major defeat for the Roman Empire. Three Roman Legions were annihilated.
Sie tranken noch eins ehe sie gingen die alten Deutschen. Sie lagen auf Barenhauten und an beiden Ufern des Rheins.
(They drank one more before they left, the old Germans. They laid on bearskins and lived on both banks of the Rhine.)
