Marzi & Remy made steins 1879-1994. This "Farewell Scene" is about 6" tall. It has a 1/2L capacity mark, hand painted #1409 on base, but no M&R logo or Germany. In 1887 it was required to have Germany or Made in Germany on all exports. This stein may have been made 1879-1886. On the pewter lid is a large fancy A! and along the edge of the lid is "Arminia sei's Panier! Ludwig Umstatter". (Collage graduation beer stein).
On the sides of the stein it has.
"Muss i denn, muss i denn, zum Stadtle hinaus, u. du mein Schatz bleibst hier."
(I must, I must, leave this small town, and you my sweetheart remain here.)
