Marzi & Remy made steins 1879-1994. This "art nouveau Floral Design" is about 4-3/4" tall. It has a 0,5L capacity mark, M&R logo and mold #2459. It doesn't have Germany on the bottom because it was made for the German market. This was a gift to the soldiers of the Infantry Regiment 42, Bayreuth, probably from their unit or the city of Bayreuth where most of the men were from. They were bought without lids and had pewterer Georg Strum also from Bayreuth make the custom pewter lids. It has "Minen-W. Komp Bayreuth" and "Weihnachten 1935" ("Minenwerfer (mortar thrower) infantry regt. 42, Bayreuth and Christmas 1935") The same pewter lid was also installed on M&R 2752 art deco steins. WW2 didn't start until Sept 1st 1939.
