Whites of Utica New York USA made steins 1885-1907,this Prosit stein is about 4" tall. Whites never had capacity marks or mold numbers. But usually had a number on the bottom that had something to do with the size of the stein, this one has a number 47. But unfortunately Whites changed their numbering system at least once. Most Whites were basically a monochromatic gray with cobalt blue. Some Whites had two seems, one under the handle and the other in the front. In 1894 a German artist named Hugo Billhardt was hired. He was responsible for mold designing and introducing the German designs we often see. He worked there until 1901. A lot of their steins have sayings in German, possibly to fool people into thinking it was made in Germany. This stein was probably made 1894-1907. I have also seen this stein with a pewter lid.
