Reinhold Merkelbach made beer steins 1882-2007, this art nouveau #3100 is about 4-1/2" tall. It does not have a capacity mark, but has a RM logo and mold #3100. The pewter lid is marked 1936.
art nouveau style started in the 1880's, ornamental style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910 throughout Europe and the United States. art nouveau is characterized by its use of a long, sinuous, organic line and was employed most often in architecture, interior design, jewelry and glass design, posters, and illustration.
