Merkelbach & Wick made beer steins 1879-1921. This stein is about 5" tall and has a 1/2L capacity mark, and a hard to see M&W logo on the base, it doesn't have a mold number, but it may be one of many 1701 generic steins. It has Prosit! under the relief Munich Child on the front, I have also seen it with Dein Wohl! (Your Well-being!). The lid has "Compliments of Chas Zoller 1904. And the centerpiece is Germania with a Lion. Charles Zoller gave out quite a few different complementary steins. He was a Furniture and Upholstery dealer in Rochester New York. He also sold Brewery supplies, and he may have been the first American photographer to work with autochromes. His Charles Chaplin portrait still transfixes us a full century after it was made.
