Brauerei Schmitt is located in the town of Singen and is the smallest brewery in the German state of Thuringia.
Stein lid displays the Brewer's Star
In 1867, brewer Ernst Heinrich Jacobi came into the possession of a 17th century Inn, smithy, and brewery. In March 1885, master brewer Richard Schmitt purchased the brewery from Jacobi. The brewery is still producing today. Ownership has stayed within the family since 1885. Richard Schmitt's great-grandson, master brewer Uwe Obstfelder, has been responsible for the brewing process since 1990.
The Staub pewter mark on the tang is not positively identified. Possibly related to G. Staub.
