Produced by Rastal as mugs and steins, examples of both are in my collection.
Designed by Janine Aigner and Nathalie Fumelli (Munich, Germany)
The lid relief depicts Lady Jane Digby (1807-1861) and is the sixth in a series taken from the Schönheitengalerie (Gallery of Beauties), thirty-six portraits of beautiful women gathered by Bavarian King Ludwig I in the southern pavilion of Nymphenburg Palace in Munich, where they remain on display today. Painted as Lady Jane Ellenborough in 1831 when she was the wife of Edward Law, Earl of Ellenborough, he was ultimately only the first of six husbands. Following that marriage she relocated to Munich where she had a brief liaison with King Ludwig. Original portrait by court painter Joseph Karl Stieler. (BSL)
