A clear glass stein with a very slight greenish brown tint, blown, with handle attached, with simple swag/ribbon patterns. The knop and attachment are pewter, with a nice patina, but the lid appears to be brass. On the underside, it is plated with ?nickel - silver seems unlikely in a utilitarian stein. The top, outer, surface of the lid has been polished until the plating has gone, revealing brass or bronze. The stein is marked '0.5l', engraved near the top of the handle. A pleasant functional stein that has survived. The condition and extent of the polishing suggests private ownership rather than an inn!
