Two Reinhold Merkelbach 3833 blue on grey stoneware, rounded relief steins with hops and barley pattern. One stein has an inscription: 1955 Badische Anilin & Soda-Fabrik A G T/S "Ludwigshafen". This probably celebrates BASF's recovery, ten years after the end of WW2. Both steins are marked. The BASF stein: RM 3833 P II (2 tally marks). The plain stein: RM 3833 P III (3 tally marks). Despite being the same design and 'mould mark', they are not identical, so not from physically the same mould (see photo).
The BASF stein is clearly dated 1955 from the inscription.
The BASF stein is 14cms high, and weighs 765gms; the plain stein is 14.5cms high, and weighs 666gms.
