Berliner Weisse is a special light beer (3% alc) which is brewed in Berlin since 1780. About 1800 you could find nearly 800 small Berliner Weisse beer pubs in Berlin. Berliner Weisse is an top-fermentation beer with wheat- and barley malt. This beer contains living microorganisms. This will cause high pressure. Store cool (< 18°C/ 64°F) and dark. Before consumption please cool the beer 6 hours at 6° to 8°C (42 to 46°F). Do not drink the beer directly out of the bottle. Please use a wide glass. On hot summerdays it is a very good refreshing drink, because the taste is slightly acidic. The Berlin people drink it with a "shoot" of sweet woodruffsirup or raspberrysirup. With the union of the breweries the beer quality became worse and certain sorts were not brewed any more. But now there are again 3 small breweries in Berlin they brewed that beer after the old recipe. Since 1830 the known glas in different sizes is used for the Berliner Weisse. Press glass of 3 parts, manufacture mark from Radeberger Bierglasmalerei 1928 (crown and S G), diameter on the top 16 cm, high 22,5 cm, diameter by the stand 10,5 cm, capacity mark 6/20 L.
