A beautiful bronze stein, produced in Denmark (Copenhagen) by a man called Edward Aagaard, probably in the first half of the 20th century.
The decoration on this stein are two scenes from Shakespeare's Hamlet. "This is I, Hamlet the Dane" and "The duel between Hamlet and Laertes" are the titles of the two scenes on either side of the stein.
On top of the lid is a dragon, whose tail is also the thumblift.
Although the stein is not marked, it is confirmed that this stein was produced and designed by Edw. Aagaard, who is known for having produced several decorative items in bronze.
This bronze stein has beautiful dark and green patination.
It's height is 16 centimeters to the top of the dragon's head, 10.8 centimeter without the lid. The diameter at the base is 10.6 centimeters.
Another stein by this same producer is also in my collection [link]
