art nouveau beer stein styled by unknown designer about 1905 - 1910. Light grey stein, glazed and with a handpainted decoration of enamel colours and the saying: Grün-weiss-rot, Treu bis in den Tod, Feuer im Blut, Das Herz froh und gut (Green-white-red, Faithful, even to the death, Fire in the blood, The Heart glad and good). On the left side is an escutcheon with the inscription: Kath. Burschen Verein ( Catholic boys club). Such clubs were founded by young unmarried boys from age 15 - 17. They lived in small villages and carried out the customs and traditions of her regions in Bavarian and Hessian. (For example drinking beer and singing religious songs). Her flag was green-white-red. Their organisations were forbidden by the Nazi´s in the 30s. No base mark.
