A stein by Reinhold Merkelbach, depicting the three emperors of the German who reigned in the year 1888: Wilheml I, Wilheml II and Friedrich III.
In this particular year there were indeed 3 German emperors. First there was emperor Wilhelm I. When he died on March 9 in the year 1888, his son Friedrich III succeeded him. But 99 days later, on June 15, he too died (from throat cancer) and was succeeded by his son, emperor Wilhelm II. Source: [link]
All three of these emperors are commemmorated on this stein, which helps date it to at least after June 1888.
Different versions in both the decoration as the colours are in existence.
