A replica historic jug, produced by Reinhold Merkelbach in the early 20th century as part of a series of 45 reproductions of historic jugs.
Reinhold Merkelbach copied originals that were in museums all over Germany. The original of this model came from the Hetjensmuseum in Düsseldorf.
The series of reproductions was quite succesfull, since they have been produced well into the 20th century, possibly even until the 1980's.
The markings on the base of the pictured stein show "Made in Western Germany", so this particula example was produced afterh WW2.
