This terra sigillata vase has a decor based on the Greek mythological story of the Trojan war. See the wiki-article: [link]
On one panel Greek hero Achilles on a chariot is towing his naked prisonerHector as a trophee behind him. An angel is watching the scene.
On the other side of the vase is another panel, depicting Hector's father (king Priamus of Troy) who is begging Achilles to release to him the body of his dead son.
This vase has all the characteristics of the historismus-period. End of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century historical scenes were fashionable and were often found on decorative pieces like this terra sigillata vase.
The vase's ears are shaped like the wheels of a chariot.
