Rastal is the manufacturer of the Wies'n Wirte mugs and steins, but subcontracts the production out to Schilz. The design for this stein was by Tita Gronemeyer and is number 490. It was available as both a mug and stein.
The central scene is of Lola Montez, the stage name of Irish dancer Eliza Rosanna Gilbert who became a mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria. Ludwig named her Grafin of Landsfeld. Their relationship was a major contributor to why Ludwig was forced to abdicate the thrown on March 20, 1848.
The lid commemorates the 500th anniversary of the “Münchner Schäffler“ or the Cooper‘s Dance.
