Hacker-Bräu München Brauerei-Steinkrug

Villeroy & Boch - modelnr. 1909

Hacker-Bräu München

Brilliant, bold, colorful lettering design

The world famous Hacker-Bräu München crossed tomahawks

4/10 L. and black calibration mark

Unique Mettlach capacity & calibration marks

Recessed base with Mettlach Mold # 1909 and another mark which I believe is either a “09” or “19” for last two digits of 20th century. So year (1909 or 1919)

Close up of base. Year “09” or “19” maybe? The first number is very much faded out now

This is an original Hacker-Bräu München brewery stein with original pewter lid.

There is a Mettlach unique “4/10 L.” mark with black calibration line underneath it next to handle.

Age: I believe 1909 but early 1900s for sure.

The colors are brilliant for such an old stein. The lettering and design are detailed and crisp.

There is a pronounced mold number 1909 on the base for VILLEROY & BOCH - Mettlach.

There appears to be a “9 marked on base as well with a faint and faded mark next to it. My guess is it was the last two digits of the year in the twentieth century stein was made. So, based also on other factors, I think “09’ is the mark for year 1909 is most likely correct.

Note: If anyone knows what the small marking “9” ??? is or has any additional information on this stein, please contact me via email anytime. I would greatly appreciate it.

This is my first addition of a stein to the “My Stein Collection” catalog. I’m excited to add more and hopefully learn more about them from this community. I learn from reading your comments describing your steins. Hopefully I’ll be able to help others over time as well.

This is a beautiful Hacker-Bräu Munich bierkrug. The lid is tops! Pun intended!

Hello Jorge,

The mold number 1909 is by producer Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach. So they produced at least the ceramic body of your stein.

Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Just noticed you commented; Thsnk you! ????????

This information is very helpful. As I said previously, I have a steep learning curve, but enjoying the learning process, reading, researching, and communicating with you and hopefully others as well.

Hi Paul,

I had a long pause on “my stein catalog” project of adding my steins. I’m returning back to it. But, somewhat alarmed when I saw the remark in the “Extra Information” section (all in green) when I read the comment in that same section that reads: “Visible Online: Yes”. My vague memory tells me that the “Extra Information Section in green is always private. Is it Private?

Hi Jorge,

"Visible online" just means that the stein's page is visible to the public. There is an option to hide the stein's page from being listed on the website.
It does not mean that the data in the “Extra Information Section in green is visible to the public. That data is always only visible to you as the owner of the stein (and only if you yourself are logged in).

Prosit!
Paul
