Matthias Germscheid in 1884 was apparently engaged initially in the manufacture of clay pipes.1903 the firm was listed as a “stoneware factory” and the employer of forty workers. They are still in business today, This "Owl" stein is approximately 8-1/4" tall, and has #740 and Germany on the base. No capacity or makers mark. It was probably made around 1960.
