Tall pewter tankard that I believe to be from the mid 19th-century.
It shows the name "M. Ruhm" (or "Rohm"?) and the year "1807".
I have conferred about this piece in a stein collectors group, and I was told that the name and year might have been added later....There is a consensus that the tankard itself appears to be original, however, as the wrigglework involved on a piece like this would have been way too costly to reproduce.
The wrigglework is quite well-done on this tankard too. Both on the front and on the lid displays what appears to be edelweiss.
As for condition, this tankard has had some extensive repairs done to it. (See the pic of the inside and underneath the lid. It appears to have had some significant soldering done to it.)
I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on this piece. Please post them in the comment section below. Thank you in advance.
