A stein with an uncommon capacity mark, an M. The M is located on the front of the stein. The M stands for Mass (measurement) and such a capacity mark was used until the 1870's or thereabouts.
A mass is about 1.064 liters.
The body is 'combed' and the stein has a very nice and detailed pewter footring, as wel as an inlaid lid. The inlaid lid is a print-under-glaze, depicting a woman kissing a small child goodnight.
Inside the lid is a pewterer's mark: Weigl.
