Simon Peter Gerz

Aus die Sammlung von Major Rush

I have an old German mug. Unfortunately, it does not have any signs, a catalog number or even a capacity mark. The mug is richly decorated. On the front there is an inscription + a small image "Munich Child". The tin lid is also richly decorated with an inscription, a small coat of arms with a crown, and a mascaron on the handle for opening.
The entire decoration is completed by hand-dying the mug with cobalt.
The mug is finished in the so-called technique. salt glaze. I did a little "investigation" and everything indicates that it comes from the westerwald region of Germany, probably manufactured by Simon Peter Gerz - I conclude this from the handle, which is identical to the mugs from the SPG catalog no. e.g. 264, 270, 302, 355, 361,441, 495, 873, 891. Additionally, from this catalog, mugs with numbers 269 and 610B have identical decorations and inscription (I assume the same form). Most of the mugs listed were made between 1880 and 1900, so I assume this one is from a similar period or it is even older (no manufacturer and capacity marks, five ring closed pewter hinge). What do you think? I'm right?

Gerz #269, there is a 1/2 L "Scrollwork with saying" in the Beer Stein Library.
