Simon Peter Gerz made steins 1862-1999. This "Nuremberg Tower" stein is about 6-1/4" tall and has a Gerz ink stamp on the base and no capacity mark. This ink stamp logo was used 1960-1990.
The building that served as the model for this stein is the landmark Frauenturm, a defensive tower constructed in the 16th century at the Nuremberg (Nürnburg) main gate. There are four similar gate towers in the old city. But all souvenir steins seem to be modelled after the Frauenturm. It's the only one with a round window at the top and four arched windows under it.
This is a comparison with a Hauber & Reuther tower (This one lost it's top pewter ball sometime in the last 137+ years). Gerz also made this stein for H&R after they lost their clay supply in 1886 and Merkelbach & Wick also made a similar size and shape tower stein.
