Lithophane naked lady
This Cold War Stein named to LTC Edward W. Fitzgerald, 73rd AAA AW Battalion is dated 1950-1954. The central scene is of the unit crest with the Latin phrase Instar Omnium or Like Everything/All Others. The American and unit flags are behind the crest. A roster of the unit's officers appears on the right and left sides.
The 73rd AAA AW Bn was a subordinate of the 12th Antiaircraft Group and was assigned to Gerszewski Barracks, Karlsruhe, Germany.
The final is a replica of the M42 (Duster), a tracked, self propelled antiaircraft gun (SPAAG) with two 40mm Bofor cannons and a 7.62mm machine gun which was later converted to an M60. The 40mm cannons could fire up to 240 rounds per minute. Production of the M42 ran from 1952-1959.
The stein has the commonly found naked lady lithophane.
The stein was produced by the Wolf Kueps Bavaria as evidenced by the firm's mark on the bottom.
